Scandinavian Christmas
party reflects HPU’s diversity

The countdown has nearly ended for the 14th annual Scandinavian Christmas Party, which will be held this year on Dec. 4. The popular event is hosted annually by the Swedish Student Association (SSA) with support from HPU and President Chatt G. Wright.

Honors Brunch celebrates students’ achievements

Despite early threats of rain, HPU’s annual fall Honors Brunch attracted about 200 students and friends, faculty, and staff to honor the honor student inductees. According to HPU’s new Director of Honors Programs, Debbie Nakashima, HPU’s 20 honor societies inducted 309 new members, 118 of them at the Nov. 16 event at the Hale Koa Hotel. Nakashima, who is a communication instructor, introduced Dr. John Kearns, HPU’s new vice president of Academic Affairs, who emceed the three-hour brunch.

Digital imaging offered again in spring '09

In today’s world of communication, digital is the king. Basic skills needed for digital communication are offered at HPU through Graphic Design, Electronic Journalism, and Web Design classes, but for students still hungry for additional multimedia skills, HPU offers Digital Imaging this coming spring.

Science cuts across national boundaries because a scientific discovery made in one country can have global significance. HPU’s College of Natural Sciences provides global solutions through the research produced by HPU science faculty members and through its academic programs. One such program is Pre-Med, which offers preparation for students interested in healthcare, whether here in the United States or internationally.
