Mother first, student second

When 17-year-old Melissa Rarama, of Aiea, delivered to her family the news about her pregnancy, she stood alone with the Catholic view on keeping her child. Although her parents are also Catholic, they opposed the idea, believing that her education and future were at risk. Now, as a 21-year-old single working mother and a full-time student at Hawai‘i Pacific University, Rarama proves that anything is possible with hard work, faith, and strong support. [More]
