Campus Pipeline: Portal To The Future
by Joe Schmiedl, assistant dean, Adult Continuing Education

What if you only had to remember one login name and password to get to your e-mail, to get to your professors’ WebCT course page, to get University announcements?

What if you could see all the information you wanted about your interests in one place?

What if you could look up your grades, register, and pay online?

And what if all of these conveniences were free to HPU students, faculty, and staff?

Well, "what ifs" are about to become reality.

Campus Pipeline is coming to Hawaii Pacific University later this month. This new software acts as a "portal" or path to many of the tools you are already using.

Initially you will be able to see University messages and job announcements and use an Internet based e-mail system. HPU offices will be able to send targeted messages to whole groups of students. For example, the Career Services Center might send a message to all students studying Computer Science saying that a major computer firm is taking resumes on the mall.

Some features will take more work to set up and will not be available right away. Registration and payment online, checking of grades, and viewing of transcripts will all be possible in the near future.

An introductory CD-ROM and instructions on how to get your Campus Pipeline account will be in the Winter/Spring Registration Instructions that will be mailed Oct. 13 to all students.

Look for a more detailed article in the Oct. 16 issue of Kalamalama.
