There is no good way to begin. The word “unbelievable”
is not enough. It’s not even close. Here is the sequence of

the Pentagon may have left students and faculty with a number
of unsettling reactions.

towers did their job
Built to withstand the impact of a 707 airplane,
the twin towers of the World Trade Center did their job, or
the death toll would not be little more than 10 percent of
the number of people who worked there every day.

Gordon Teacher of
Year
Irene Rizkallah Gordon, an instructor of English
as a Second Language (ESL) at Hawai‘i Pacific University,
was awarded the University’s 2001 Trustees’ Award for Excellence
in Teaching. The announcement was made at HPU’s spring commencement
ceremony in May.
