HPU alumnus in Broadway hit
by Jenny Lundahl, associate editor

The Broadway hit Fully Committed, a one-man, one-act show, has its Hawai‘i premier with local performers and a local production at The Arts at Marks Garage downtown Honolulu on May 15.

One of the local actors, Andrew Meader, 26, is an HPU alumnus now working for Tim Bostock Productions. Meader has years of acting experiences in the local scene with plays including I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Manoa Valley Theatre. Internationally, Meader has been part of the traveling Up With People where he has been singing and performing all over the world.

This time, Meader will star on alternating nights in Fully Committed together with Greg Howell, also a local actor.

The plot in this comedy, produced by Tim Bostock Productions, portrays an unemployed actor in New York City who works the reservation line at the number one restaurant in Manhattan. On an everyday basis, he deals with threats, bribes, and coercion from celebrities, wannabes, and other callers who do anything in their power to get a reservation. The question is, how does he manage to look out for himself.

Fully Committed has not just been successful in New York City, but also in cities such as Washington and San Francisco. It will run through May 25. For tickets and information, call 521-9699.
