Art credit for HPU students
by Vanessa Katz, A&E editor

Express your artistic side and earn credits toward your degree at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, which offers a wide range of 14-week art classes, each of which earns stduents two academic credits from HPU.

“HPU students are encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity,” said advisor Ann Yamashiro, who is concerned that few students know about the classes.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts offers studio art classes from Sept. 10 through Dec. 14. Classes are organized for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students in drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, printmaking, basketry, weaving, calligraphy, book designing, and cinema studies.

Adult students at the Honolulu Academy of Arts learn silk-screen printmaking techniques. HPU students can receive college credit for Academy of Art classes. Students should see their advisors before classes start Sept. 10. All classes are held at the Linekona Art Center across from the Academy exhibition hall.
