After sponsoring last year’s successful “Fear on the Pier,”
the Associated Students of Hawai‘i Pacific University (ASHPU)
are gearing up for another energetic Halloween dance. Determined
to make this year’s Halloween event bigger and better than ever
before, the council has planned a Monsters’ Ball to be held
Nov. 1 at Planet Hollywood in Waikiki.
In the past, HPU’s Halloween dances have been limited to one
night at a popular club. This time, the Office of Student Life
has underwritten an entire week of Halloween events, with Monster
Ball as a capstone the day after Halloween.
One of the advantages to having this event the night after
Halloween is that students who could not go out on Thursday
night because of classes the following morning, can still get
the opportunity to dress up and take part in the festivities.
Dressing in costume is not required to attend, but it is definitely
preferred, since numerous prizes will be given away for various
costume categories. Tickets for the event are on sale on Upper
Fort Street Mall outside the Student Life Office and cost $10
for HPU students, $15 for guests.
Transportation will be provided from the downtown campus, various
Waikiki locations, and the Hawai‘i Loa campus.
