he was responsible for planning and implementing the integration of Bank of America and Nations Bank, following their merger in 1998. He also served as vice chairman and chief financial officer of Bank of America. Prior to that, O’Neill was chief financial officer of Continental Bank of Chicago. During his career he has worked in Brussels, London and Hong Kong, and the U.S. mainland.

“We are fortunate to have Mike join our Board of Trustees,” said HPU Board Chairman William E. Aull. “He will certainly assist Hawai‘i Pacific University to advance and develop into the 21st century.”

O’Neill said he was pleased with his election: “I have admired the good work of Hawai‘i Pacific University, and I am delighted to become a trustee of this fine global institution of higher learning.”

Born in Santa Monica, Calif., O’Neill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in European Civilization from Princeton University and an MBA from the Colgate Darden School at the University of Virginia. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He and his wife Trish have two sons, Ted and Pete.
