On your marks! Get set! Go get a job!

by Shannon Calizo-Stollenmaier, staff writer

For the second year in a row, the HPU Cheerleaders placed first in their division for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) video entries, making them the top contender in the upcoming national championship competition April 4 and 5 in Daytona Beach, Fla. In the video-qualifying round, HPU beat two former national champions, including last year’s winner, the University of Central Arkansas. HPU, which scored 9.765 out of a possible 10, has won the video bid three out of the last four years. “This is by far the most talented team HPU has ever had,” said HPU Head Cheer Coach Ashley Edwards. “As long as we hit our routine at nationals, we have a great chance at bringing home Hawai‘i’s first Collegiate National Cheerleading title.”
