Making professional killers?

The nature of killers was one of the topics addressed by Dr. Gerhard Weinberg, an expert on World War II and Nazi Germany.

   

Trustees elect Zecha

Trustees recently elected Dr. Allen Louis Zecha to the University’s governing board. Zecha is a retired vice president of Union Carbide Japan and served on several Union Carbide joint-venture boards in Japan and Southeast Asia.

   

New scholarship honors trustee

Hawai‘i Pacific University has established a new scholarship for incoming freshmen and transfer students who are actively involved in their religious communities. Beginning fall 2003, the Dr. and Mrs. Frank E. Butterworth Scholarship, a 100 percent tuition-only scholarship, renewable until completion of a bachelor’s degree, will be awarded to four new students each year.

   

New computer lab opens at KMCBH

A new computer lab at the Kane‘ohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii will make it easier for HPU students to complete their educational goals on the military campuses.

   

HPU presents Ko'olau Writing Workshop

Joseph Stanton, nationally renowned poet and author, will be the featured speaker at HPU’s 6th annual Ko‘olau Writing Workshop March 1 at the windward campus. The event organizer, Patrice Wilson and catering to both novice and seasoned writers, is 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Workshop to honor JamesM. Vaughan Poetry...

Dawn Fraser Kawahara, Kapaa, recently won HPU’s James Vaughan Award for Poetry. She will receive a $500 check and will be recognized at the sixth annual Ko‘olau Writing Workshops on March 1, at the HPU Hawai‘i Loa campus in Kane‘ohe.
