Krejci got the best of Maatta in the No. 1 singles match, as
the Seasider won 7-5, 6-3. Madarassy also won his singles match,
beating Gabor Jaross 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles.
HPU’s Matey Pampulov won the No. 4 singles over Hong Tae Kim
4-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) while Tribler, who made quick work of Daouda
Ndiaye in the No. 5 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2, tied the overall
score at two apiece, but the Seasiders won four singles in the
win.
The HPU women were also beaten by defending division II national
champion BYU-H, losing 1-8 Feb. 18 at the Kailua Racquet Club.
The lone Sea Warrior point came in the No. 3 doubles match,
as Davilyn Godinet and Bianca Barreto beat Trisha Piercy and
Crystal Schwenke 8-6.
The Lady Sea Warriors play Chaminade March 3 at the O‘ahu Club
at 11 a.m.
The Sea Warrior men’s tennis team cruised over the University
of Hawai‘i-Manoa 8-1 at the UH-Manoa tennis complex Feb. 24.
The Sea Warriors won every match except the No. 1 singles,
which went to Justin Menolascino over Maata 2-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The Sea Warriors face Chaminade March 3 at the O‘ahu Club at
11 a.m. The UH-Hilo matches were postponed.
