Thank you Harry Potter

With a long-term war in progress and threats of further terrorist attacks on American soil, is it mere escapism to go to movies such as Harry Potter? Not at all; such movies provide something just as essential to winning a war as weapons and soldiers.

   

The politics of summer - or what they did while you were away

Over the summer, while American soldiers were fighting and dying in “liberated” Iraq, the American press, with typical timeliness, reported that at least one of the intelligence reports used by the Bush administration as justification for the invasion (sorry, liberation) of Iraq was in fact, erroneous.

   

Surfing: a great intramural sport for Hawai'i's high schools

Most days it is tough to find a beach not crowded with eager board-riders waiting to catch some waves. Despite the popularity of surfing in Hawai‘i, the state has not allowed the sport to be sanctioned as a competitive high school sport.
