HPU names VP of planning, assessment

Dr. Nancy Hedlund was appointed to the newly created position of Associate Vice President of Planning and Assessment at Hawai‘i Pacific University. In her new role, Dr. Hedlund will continue to provide leadership to program review and strategic planning, as well as to institutional research and assessment for the University.

For the past five years, Dr. Hedlund has been the coordinator for Academic Assessment. Through her leadership, HPU has implemented and adopted academic program review and a range of institutional assessments. Also, as professor of psychology, she has taught research design and quantitative methods in the social sciences.

Dr. Hedlund has served on the committee of the Western Association for Schools and Colleges (WASC) that wrote the new accreditation standards two years ago. She has continued to play an active role with WASC, both as an accreditation review team member and as a contributor to activities associated with implementing the new accreditation model.

Dr. Hedlund holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Columbia University. Prior to joining HPU, she held graduate faculty appointments at Yale University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Hawai‘i.
