Com professor's book nominated for R.M. Utley Award

 

“Custer and His Times: Book Four,” a book by Dr. John Hart, professor of communication and assistant dean in the College of Communication at Hawai‘i Pacific University, has been nominated for the prestigious Robert M. Utley Award.

The Utley Book Award is given annually for the best book published on the military history of the frontier and western North America from prehistory through the 20th century. The award is supported by contributions from individuals and publishers and is administered by the Western History Association. The book was nominated by the Little Big Horn Associates at the expressed request of the Western History Association Executive Secretary, noted western author Paul A. Hutton.

A featured speaker on Custer-related topics, Dr. Hart is also the recipient of the Lawrence A. Frost Literary Memorial Award for Best Magazine article for a piece on Custer called, “Custer’s First Stand: The Washington Fight.”
