New professional studies dean

by Kalamalama staff

Dr. Gordon Jones has been named dean of the College of Professional Studies at Hawai‘i Pacific University—a position he had held in earlier years at HPU. Previously, he served as professor and chair for the Master of Science in Information Systems degree program.

As dean, Dr. Jones oversees four graduate programs within the College of Professional Studies: the Master of Arts degrees in Organizational Change, Global Leadership, Human Resource Management; and the Master of Science in Information Systems. His appointment is timely with the recent opening of the Frear Center, HPU’s newest high—technology teaching and learning facility. Dr. Jones had a major role in the development of the Frear Center, serving as the principal grant writer and academic project manager for the facility.

Prior to joining HPU in 1987, Dr. Jones held teaching positions at Carnegie-Mellon, Georgetown, the University of California, and the University of New Mexico. His research interests include knowledge management, strategic information systems, computer-mediated teaching and learning, and technology transfer in multinational corporations. Along with several colleagues, Dr. Jones is completing work on a book entitled, Adaptive Leadership.
