Career Fair at HLC

by Radasha Ho'ohuli

The second annual Health, Science, and Social Services Career Fair was held on Oct. 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hawai‘i Loa campus.

Sponsored by the Career Services Center, the event included about 35 booths set up for students and alumni who were interested in a career in health, science, or human social services.

Carol Kagimoto of the CSC said, “It’s not just a job fair. Employers from all over come to look for potential full- or part- time workers, or to share information about a particular career area.”

Students signed in and received name tags and then were free to visit the different booths that were set up on the front lanai. Some students were even lucky enough to have an interview right on the spot, as the CSC set up interview tables on the back lanai.

Kagimoto had spent the two weeks before the fair encouraging everyone to come out because it was “a free event that was low risk, and gave students every easy way to look at a job market. Even those who were not job seeking!”

CSC is planning a spring career fair targeted for business and technology majors.
