Wong directed and produced the film documentary, Reincarnation
in Shangri-La, and filmed it entirely in China.
The film is about one of the last truely
matriarchal societies left in the world today, the Mosuo people
of the mystical region
of Shangri-La in China. According to Wong, it is “a unique
depiction of a people in a world controlled by women, a world
in which there are no marriages and no fathers."
The Mosuo people vigorously strive from birth to death “in
strict reverence of their Gods, nature, and themselves,” Wong
said.
