It is hard to think of blessings when fires rage throughout
California destroying homes and lives, when soldier and aid
worker lives continue to be lost in Iraq, and when so many
families here at home teeter between having a home and homelessness.
Yet, the strength of our nation has been our willingness to
lift each other up, and our resilience to see hope and an outstretched
hand appears. Blessings are all around us for those who have
eyes to see, and you just might be the reason someone else
is giving thanks this season because of your caring and encouragement.
Because the Thanksgiving holiday is only a few days long, many
students can’t get home to celebrate with their families.
Two of our clubs--Christian Fellowship and Catholic Campus Ministry--are
sponsoring a traditional American Thanskgiving dinner at the
new Sea Warrior Center on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 27, at 1 p.m.,
for only $5. Tickets must be reserved through my office, UB 1506,
544-9394, or club leaders.
Other Thanksgiving day activities include worship, football
and Frisbee throwing, and American football on all the Sea
Warrior
Center TVs. All students are welcome! Come and celebrate this
traditional feast with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn,
stuffing, salads, and pumpkin pie. Get your tickets early and
let’s all be thankful for the blessing that is ours to
pursue higher education at HPU. See you there! |
