The view of O‘ahu’s Ko‘olau mountains from the lanai of the Academic Center at Hawai‘i Loa campus is one of the great things about Hawai‘i and HPU. But it can be a bit distracting.

Students continued workshop discussions through lunch.

The committee that planned the Nov. 8 Global Symposium: from left: Dr. Carlos Juárez, Dr. Micheline Soong, Dr. John Davidann, Ms. Irene Gordon, Dr. Warren Wee, Dr. Jeanne Rellahan, Dr. Jerry Feldman, and Dr. Hal Warren. In addition to this group, other planners not in the picture included Dr. Nancy Hedlund, Ms. Patrice Wilson, Dr. Lynette Cruz, Dr. Chris Fung, and Dr. Grace Cheng.

The planners were also the facilitators of the break out groups that met following Caroline Matano Yang’s keynote address on global citizenship. According to Dr. Jeanne Rellahan, who acted as mistress of ceremonies for the event, “Plans are currently underway to produce another event that addresses global citizenship and the Hawai‘i Pacific community’s perceptions of what this means.”
