Melvin Goes to Dinner creator shares insight in film, industry

Editor’s note: Melvin Goes to Dinner had its Hawai‘i premier Nov. 7 as a part of the Hawai‘i International Film Festival. Kalamalama reviewed the film in its Nov. 27 issue. René Donnes had an exclusive interview with screenwriter and star of the movie, Michael Blieden, by telephone at his Los Angeles home.

   

Art explores sacred spaces

Linda Kane, a local artist inspired by Hawai‘i’s natural environment, opened an exhibit of her work at the HPU Art Gallery Nov. 30 that will run through Jan. 23, 2004.

   

2003 HIFF's best year, director says

The 23rd annual Hawai‘i International Film Festival, sponsered by Louis Vuitton wrapped up on Nov. 9. HIFF was a huge success according its Executive Director of HIFF, Chuck Boller and it accomplished its goal of enlarging understanding and cultural appreciation for the people of Asia, the Pacific, and North America, through film.
