Have a question about HPU, and have
no idea where to go, or who to ask? The new HPU Concierge Desk,
located in the first window of the Register’s Office,
on the 2nd floor at 1164 Bishop Street (UB builidng), can help
Students no longer have to deal with
the hassle of running from department to department, trying
to get answers to their questions or solutions to their problems.
The HPU Concierge Desk is a one-stop shop where students can
drop in, get information, and even assistance from staff that
has been cross-trained in numerous departments.
Nancy Ellis, vice president of Student Support Services, said: “ The
HPU Concierge Desk will do the leg work for you. The desk will
either know the answer, know how to find the answer, or will
help the student find the answer.”
The first objective of The Concierge Desk is to solve the student’s
problem. They will not leave the student with more questions,
running in circles. The Concierge Desk will know which department
to contact, will set up an appointment for the student if needed,
or send them directly to the department, or person they need
to see, with a referral card. Departments have been notified
that calls from the concierge desk are a top priority.
Marian Mafnas, HPU’s lead concierge, has recently completed
training in several departments, so she can answer frequently
asked questions and will know firsthand who handles what issues
in each department.
The Concierge Desk can assist students in numerous areas including
questions and problems involving the Registrar’s Office,
Financial Aid, Finance and Operations, Career Services, Student
Life, the Bookstore, Advising, the Graduate Center, Options College,
the Scholarship Office, the Computer Center, the Office of Academic
Affairs, the Faculty Services Center, Housing, and the Campus
