Spring Break? Already? Short-notice travel packages

by Saida Oliver, staff writer

Spring Break has arrived and most students have not made any plans. Here are a few ideas that will be sure to entice your five senses. All were found on Expedia.com and are valid the week of March 22-March 28. If these package deals seem like something you would like to do, be sure to book your flight seven to ten days before the departure date to make sure your seat will be available. All packages include a round-trip airfare, a room, and a car.

Las Vegas
If the “city of sin” is a place you want to be, you are in luck! Las Vegas has a great variety of package deals for almost any budget. Expedia is offering 43 different five day package deals, including round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and a car.

The most economical bargain cost $725.05 per person, taxes not included. You will be staying at the Gold Coast Hotel, a three-star hotel with a standard room, for five nights.
Hotel Features

The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino is located one mile west of the strip and a half a mile away from Chinatown. There is 100,000 square foot of casino space consisting of Internet access, in-room movies, cable television, A/C, and a beauty salon and barber shop.

Entertainment
There are lots of fun-filled events going on right in the hotel. If gambling is your forte, the casino is open 24 hours. A tribute to the women of country music, entitled the Honky Tonk Angels, is performed every Monday-Wednesday. The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino also includes a state-of-the-art Bowling Center, a pool and fitness center, and an abundance of restaurants for all tastes.

If you would like to upgrade to a more lavish hotel, Expedia has a more expensive package that will cost $1,073.60 per person, taxes not included. Your days will be spent at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort, a four-star hotel with a standard room and the car is upgraded to midsize.

Hotel Features
The JW Marriott is located 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The landscape is plush with palm trees and a view of Red Rock Mountain. Each room includes luxury amenities on the vanity, cordless high-speed connections, triple-sheeted Egyptian cotton sheets, and a Jacuzzi bathtub. The entertainment center includes a 32” television and a writing desk adjacent to the sitting area. The rooms are also available with French doors opening onto a balcony.

Entertainment
In the midst of the landscape filled with trees, lakes, and streams is a sparkling swimming pool. The JW Marriott is host to some of the most extravagant international dining including Hamada of Japan and Spiedini Ristorante. Their distinct and upscale shops include Roland K clothes for men and women and Berger and Sons Jewelers. With 40 gambling tables in the casino and a state-of-the-art health spa with hydrotherapy facilities, you will never want to leave the hotel!

Maui
If you don’t want to travel too far for spring break, check out some of O‘ahu’s neighbor islands. There are many affordable package deals. For $491.62 per person you can stay at Castle Maui Beach Hotel. The deal includes a standard room and an economy car.
