Cheerleaders honored by legislature

Rep. Corinne Ching (27th District), on behalf of the Hawai‘i State House of Representatives, presented a congratulatory certificate to the HPU Co-ed Cheerleading Team for winning the 2003 National Championship title and wished them success in defending their title in the upcoming national competition in Florida.

Rotaract in Honolulu Festival

The Rotaract Club at HPU was specially invited to participate in a once in a lifetime opportunity—to wear Samurai armor belonging to the Iimorigu Toryu Busha in Fukuoka City, Japan, in the March 7 Honolulu Festivaldemonstration and grand parade.

Akamai's reputation brings hope for nationals

Akamai Advertising, the AAF (American Advertising Federation) student agency at HPU, was recently denied the opportunity to compete regionally against other student advertising groups in the National Student Advertising Competition when the only competitor, University of Hawai‘i-Manoa, dropped out. However, given HPU’s reputation as a past competitor, the AAF said it would allow HPU to compete for one of two wildcard spots.
