Sports
classics feature timeless messages
I have enough problems trying to prioritize
my day, let alone the top-10 classic sports movies of all
time. I’ve listed five, and their order is arbitrary.
All have messages about life as well as sports. I love sports
because it often is a microcosm of life. Athletes, like everyone
else, live, love, cry, laugh, struggle, and die. Films about
them offer something for everyone who watches.

Top-10 sports
movies since 1980
Sports movies are movies that often portray true-life
stories. They spotlight a moment from the past and reenact
it on the big screen. Sometimes they show triumph and other
times they focus on downfalls. All in all people can bond together
when a sports movie mixes sports with real life stories, as
seen from Disney’s recent blockbuster movie Miracle.

Sasha Parc -
From Serbia to HPU
HPU’s women Tennis team lost 6-0 March
4 against Brigham Young University at the Central Oahu Regional
Tennis Park in Waipahu. Sasha Parc, the assistant coach, said
that BYUH is strong, but HPU could have done better. “The
team needs a lot of practice, but we will be able to play better
against BYUH soon”.

Senior Night turns dark for Sea Warriors
Chaminade University’s Sashif Reyes silenced
the Sea Warriors basketball team with his deadly shooting from
beyond the arch, leading the Silverswords to a 101-77 thrashing
of the Sea Warriors in a PacWest Conference game, March 3 at
the Neil Blaisdell Center.

Lady Sea Warriors softball an early hit
Preseason outlooks for Sea Warrior softball focused
on pitching and solid defense, both trademarks of teams led
by co-head coaches Howard Okita and Bryan Nakasone. But the
team’s bats also produced February heat, and the HPU
Lady Sea Warrior softball team got the 2004 season off to a
great start, posting a 7-1 record and out-scoring the opposition
50-19 in the process.
