disappointing for us,” the assistant coach of HPU’s
women tennis team Sasha Parc said. The Lady Sea Warriors lost
two games and won two.
On March 9, the Lady Sea Warriors defeated Cal Poly-Pomona,
6-3, at the Bronco’s Tennis Facility in Pomona. On March
12, they lost again, to University of California-San Diego. On
March 13, the Lady Sea Warriors defeated Azusa Pacific University,
7-2, at the Azusa Tennis Courts in Azusa, Calif. HPU won the
singles match up and Shakti Stream defeated APU’s Christiana
Scolinos 7-5 and 6-4. They were very strong in the doubles as
well. The Sea Warriors won two out of three games. In the last
doubles match, HPU’s Shakti Stream and Davi Godinet played
against APU’s Christina Earnest and Christiana Scolinos
and scored 8-0
On March 16, HPU lost to Armstrong
Atlantic State University in San Diego, despite Hana Krivonoskova’s
defeat of Caroline Grage by 6-4 and 7-5. Lady Sea Warrior Isidora
Ljuri also won two sets against Dziyana Nazaruk 6-4 and 5-7.
Despite the fact, that the ladies fell in rank from 15 to 16
in the PacWest, they still had an exciting time in California.
We went to the Association of Tennis Professionals Tournament
in Indian Wells and saw some top tennis players including Andre
Agassi and Roger Federer. This was very exciting for the ladies
and the men!” Parc said. On March 23, the women’s
tennis team lost 1-5 to UH-Hilo’s Lady Vulcans at the O‘ahu
Club in Honolulu. The weather was an opponent as well. The single
matches were prolonged due to the rainy weather. The only bright
spot was that HPU’s Davi Godinet was able to defeat Michiko
Tanaka 6-1 and 6-3.
