'What's your dream job?' Kalamalama
asks HPU athletes about their "dream job"
by Derek Clarkston, '04 |

ESPN’s reality TV show, Dream Job, climaxed
with a bright-eyed, 21-year-old college student, Mike Hall,
wining a one-year Sportscenter contract worth $95,000.
Is their any better job in sports then being
an anchor on the “big
show?” Yet the winner of Dream Job is just like any other
college student.
Well, almost like any other college student.
At the end of the 2003-04 school year, what
did athletes at HPU hope for as their sports dream job? Here’s
what some of them said. |

Gabor Jaross, junior, tennis
“
I would want to be a sports psychologist, because I’m really
interested in the cycle of how to motivate people, how to make
them concentrate and stay focused.” |
| |
Jay Bussey, senior, basketball
“A sports agent, because you get to deal with athletes on a day-to-day
basis. Plus you get to work on commission and sign big-name athletes.”
Loni Matsunaga, senior, tennis
“
I would want to be a sports broadcaster, because it’s fun
and it’s a job that would keep me involved in the game.”

Lucas “Tex” Walls, senior,
soccer
“ I would play football or soccer. I would much rather play sports than
be an analyst and sit there. If I wasn’t playing sports anymore, I would
get out of sports.”
Briana Marinas, sophomore, volleyball
“I would play professional volleyball, because I love volleyball
and would like to stay involved in the game. Maybe I will even
coach.” |
