On May 12, Dr. Patty Lange-Otsuka was promoted to associate dean of Nursing. “Lange-Otsuka is a seasoned nursing educator and SON Graduate Program chair,” said Dr. Carol Winters-Moorhead, dean of Nursing. “For the past three years, she has served as the chair of the HPU Faculty Assembly.”

In addition to teaching, Dr. Lange-Otsuka serves as an item writer for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

Licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse, Dr. Lange-Otsuka is certified as a community health clinical nurse specialist. Her nursing career includes work as a consultant, nursing supervisor, and primary care nurse.

Lange-Otuska received the Duane Walker Memorial Award by the Hawai‘i chapter of the American Association of Nurse Executives in 2001 for her outstanding leadership and service in the nursing profession, and was named the recipient of the 1999 Excellence in Nursing Education Award from the International Nursing Honor Society, Gamma Psi Chapter at Large. She replaces John Stepulis, who returns to full-time teaching.
