Book Beat: Library requires HPU student IDs

by Stacy Judy, head of Atherton Library

Have you visited the library when there were no seats or computers available? Have you wondered if students from other schools were seated at the study tables?

A new library policy is being implemented this semester: Meader Library now requires users to provide valid HPU identification cards upon entering the Bishop Street building (LB, 1060 Bishop St.). Acceptable HPU ID cards include UniCards, MCP cards, and library issued community cards.

The Meader and Atherton Libraries are private facilities that support the educational needs of the HPU community. HPU students, faculty, and staff have full reading, borrowing, and studying privileges. Alumni, business professionals, and others who would like to take advantage of all the HPU libraries have to offer may purchase community cards.

If you are asked to present your ID, please cooperate and remember that the goal of the new policy is to provide study space and resources for HPU students, a priority for the University Libraries.

And please remember, if you have a question, to ask one of our friendly librarians. They LOVE to help!

Happy Reading!
