As in years past, there will be a live DJ, and free pupus
(appetizers). Last year’s Halloween food included skeleton-bone
appetizers with blood-bath dip (actually buffalo wings with
blue cheese dressing), caterpillar crunch (boiled soybeans),
creepy Asian-worm stir fry (fried noodles), and more.
ASHPU expects 800 to 1,000 students and guests to attend
the Monsters’ Ball, said Heather Hubbard, director of Student
Costumes are preferred, and prizes will be awarded for the
best in different costume categories, but they aren’t
required. Senior Lexi Lucariello, a visual communication major,
didn’t wear a costume to last year’s event. “I
decided to come as is at the last minute” she said, and
added that the ball was a great way to get to know other HPU
