Chaplain's Corner
with Reverend Dale Burke

Every year the President of the United States proclaims the 4th Thursday in November as a National Day of Thanksgiving: a day to pause and give thanks to our Creator for the abundance of blessings and opportunities that are ours. It is so easy in our busy culture to become so self-absorbed that we forget the real source of all good things. Thanksgiving day helps us remember. We get the day off, we gather family and friends together to share food and drink, and hopefully we are all brought closer to one another.

This Thanksgiving Day we want no one to be alone or go without a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. You are invited to come to the Sea Warrior Center on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, for a brief thanksgiving service followed by a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. To make it a truly American cultural experience there will be an American football game on TV. You can’t beat that!

The non-denominational Thanksgiving service starts at 10 a.m. and dinner is served at 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 and cover the entire dinner. They will be available on the mall. Please purchase them in advance so we know how many to plan for. For more information call 544-9394.
