Maleakahana Bay and its beach provide an expanisve and colorful background to the private camping area. It is uncrowded most of the time and offers good conditions for swimming, snorkeling, bodysurfing, and picnicing. Overnight campers pay $5.20 a night.

The entrance of the campground is located about 55 yards off Kamehameha Highway. The registrar's office is in the building straight ahead.

The camp facilities include a small shower area where one can take a hot shower. There are sinks on the far side of the shower area.

Maleakahana campground offers a variety of different campsites. This one is right on the beach. Most camping areas are shaded by trees, and all of the camping areas include stone firepits.

This campground is unusual, in that it also offers a "comfort zone" where campers can find shelter from occasional wet weather. It offers tables and chairs and books to read.
