Jones named 'Outstanding Educator'

by Kalamalama staff

Dean of HPU’s College of Professional Studies, Dr. Gordon Jones, has been named Technology Educator of the Year for 2004 by the Pacific Technology Foundation and the Technology News Network. The award, presented Oct. 17 at the Sheraton Waikiki, honors educators who have successfully and creatively implemented unique technology solutions for their students and schools.

This is the second consecutive year Dr. Jones has been honored at the Taste of Technology event, which celebrates 50 of the top executives and leaders in the state of Hawai‘i who have made the most significant positive impact on the industries of business, technology, education, and community service in the past year. Jones received the honor for his commitment to providing valuable technical, educational, and moral support for his students, and earning respect and recognition of his colleagues in education and the community.

Jones oversees four graduate programs: the Master of Arts degrees in Organizational Change, Global Leadership, and Human Resource Management, as well as the Master of Science in Information Systems. He had a major role in the development of the Frear Center, HPU’s newest high-technology teaching and learning facility, which opened in August 2003, serving as the principal grant writer and academic project manager for the facility.
