Martin named PacWest Player of the Week

by Kalamalama staff

Barbara Martin has been known all season as the PacWest’s No. 1 hitter, maintaining the best hitting percentage, and the No. 1 blocker—on Oct. 25 she was given Player of the Week honors.

Martin, a 6-2 sophomore from Curibita, Brazil, was ranked No. 7 in the nation in hitting percentage, at .416, and No. 17 in the nation for blocks per game, 1.4, according to the NCAA's Volleyball National Ranking Summary.

She averaged 3.44 kills per game on a .459 hitting percentage in three away matches. She had two double-digit digs matches and tallied 31 kills in the nine-game road-trip sweep.

The Pre-Med major was second in PacWest for hitting percentage, .361. In blocks per game, she was ranked No. 1 in the conference with a 1.88 average.
