Student manages school despite MS

Imagine: You’re doing your normal daily routine, and suddenly you are in so much pain you want to scream. This is what multiple sclerosis can do to someone. Christy Decker, 25, a speech communications major at HPU since fall of 2000, has to live with this everyday.

Book Beat: Meet new library staff

Deborah Barsel was hired April 7 as the head of circulation services. She has enjoyed a varied career over the past 20 years working in several museums, a zoo (the real kind, not a euphemism for a crazy workplace) and the IT department of the University of Rochester where she was a database administrator. Outside of her professional life, she has been deeply involved as a character actress in community theater on the mainland, and she hopes to continue that on O‘ahu.
