Food For Fines

by Stacy Judy, head of Atherton Library

The HPU libraries have announced a Food For Fines program that will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 23, according to University Librarian Kathy Chee.

Any library patron with current overdue book fines may bring in an unopened, nonperishable food item and have his or her fines forgiven.

Food donations will benefit the HPU Food Bank and may be turned in to the circulation desks at Meader or Atherton Libraries.

Not all fines can be waived, Chee said:

• Fines must be for overdue books only. Book replacement costs cannot be waived.

• Food item donations may be applied to existing fines only. No credit will be given.

• Donations cannot apply to older fines for which overdue charges notification have been sent.

For more information call Meader Circulation at 544-1110 or Atherton Circulation at 236-3505 or e-mail libcirc@hpu.edu
