Book Beat: Marine Science resources

The Marine Science Program is one of the fastest growing programs at HPU, especially in light of its recent partnership with Oceanic Institute, a leading ocean research center located at Makapu‘u on windward O‘ahu

   

600 graduate at winter commencement

HPU conferred associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees on nearly 600 students at the University’s 59th commencement ceremony Jan. 12 at the Waikiki Shell.

   

New MSW degree scheduled for fall

If things go according to plan, HPU students will be able to earn a master’s degree in social work beginning this fall. The MSW program will be offered to any student with a bachelor’s degree in any field, not exclusively a bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW).

   

Mentors needed for national education effort

HPU faculty, staff, and students are participating in a national effort, The Century Program, to enhance the educational achievements of underserved youth.

 
   

New program to ease teacher shortage

HPU has created a new teacher certification program that, together with a new Master’s of Education degree, may help ease Hawai‘i’s crippling teacher shortage.

 
   

Pavkovic featured on History Channel's Command Decisions

HPU’s Dr. Michael Pavkovic appeared on the History Channel Dec. 5 in an episode of the Command Decisions series that focused on the January 1797 Battle of Rivoli.

 
   

Vietnamese scholar at HPU international round table

HPU is considered an international learning community and was selected to to host an international roundtable Dec. 17 featuring a Vietnamese scholar and researcher from the Institute of Religion of the National Center for Social Sciences and Humanities.

 
   

Aloha from the President

I want to begin by extending a warm welcome to the new students who are joining us for the spring semester and by welcoming back our continuing students. While many of you have been on vacation, faculty and staff have been preparing for this new semester. We have a variety of activities planned to introduce our new students to the exciting multicultural life of our campuses.
