Scholarship, honors, application deadlines

2005-2006 academic year scholarships
Jan. 21 is the deadline for a number of scholarships awarded for the 2005-2006 academic year and presented at the 22nd annual Honors Banquet in March. Students can find information on these, and applications, on the HPU Web site:




Spring 2005 scholarships
Also due Jan. 21 are applications for up to two scholarships valued at $500 each, based upon merit and financial need, that HPU offers to students currently enrolled at the University. The Betty G. and J. Gurney Stoebe Scholarships are awarded for the spring 2005 semester, and the awards will be credited toward the students’ tuition account.
To apply for these, students should pick up applications for spring 2005 from the Office of Scholarships & Honors Programs, Suite 210A, 1164 Bishop St. (UB building). Applications and all required material must be returned to that office by Jan. 21 for consideration.
Students cannot download these applications from the HPU Web site, but they can return them by e-mail:
Application deadline Jan. 21. Eligibility criteria include:
Students with junior or senior status
· Minimum 3.0 GPA
· Enrolled full or part time at HPU
Preference is given to students pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work degree, and to students with demonstrated financial need.

Honors Society applications due Feb. 14
Students interested in being inducted into HPU Honor Societies at the April 3 Honors Brunch ceremonies at Hale Koa Hotel, must submit their applications by Feb. 14. Information and forms available at:

TIM: The Aston Scholarship $1,500.
TIM/Mktg/Mgmt: Enterprise Rent-a-Car, $2,000
Acctg: Hawai‘i Accounting Education Foundation Scholarship, $1,400.
Communication: Hawai‘i Association of Broadcasters Scholarship, $7,500.
Nursing: Marley Irons Memorial Scholarship $4,500 (distributed among more than one student).
Computer Science: Prof. Louis Abraham Excellence in Computer Science: $500 each (one graduate and one undergraduate) student.
