Book Beat: Library positions open

by Stacy Judy, head Atherton Librarian

Like many students at the beginning of a new term, many feel strapped for cash. With tuition, the price of books, and the high cost of living in Hawai‘i, many students have to scrimp to get by while earning an education. The obvious solution: get a job. Unfortunately, many employers are unwilling to accommodate your heavy study schedules.

HPU understands your plight, so student employment was created. You can attend classes and still work parttime on campus to earn the money you need to continue.

There are currently positions open at both the downtown and the Hawai‘i Loa campus Libraries that offer a wide range of tasks and opportunities. Supervisors make every effort to tailor the positions to fit the needs of each student by scheduling around classes.

If you have ever thought that it would be exciting to work in a library, and are interested in a healthy, happy atmosphere of learning and knowledge, come and see us today at the circulation departments of Atherton or Meader Libraries. We have positions for regular students and for those who have Federal Work-Study awards.
