New TIM students
get oriented to hospitality
One or two might have been there for the free
pizza sponsored by the TIM program, but most of the 30 new
Travel Industry Management majors were there to be enlightened
and inspired to pursue a degree in the travel and tourism field,
according to TIM Program Director Wendy Lam.

Aloha
from the President
One of the most rewarding things that happens
at HPU is that we get to know and support our neighbors.
For many years, our faculty and students have used course
assignments to help organizations improve their ability to
deliver core products and key services to the customers.
Dr. Larry Rowland’s project management classes regularly
adopt local agencies for information systems support. They
establish technology project plans, create Web sites, and
improve information handling and reporting procedures to
help not-for-profits better qualify for state and federal
grants.

I had a terrific weekend recently as I served
as a mentor to a special athlete participating in the Hawai‘i
Special Olympic Leadership Conference.
