Tennis
teams take season openers
The women’s and men’s tennis season
just started and HPU tennis teams had their first challenge
on February 14, when they played Chaminade at Hawai‘i
Loa campus. Both HPU teams won, even though the 2005 men’s
tennis roster included only four players.

Professional
soccer kicks off in Hawaii with exhibition match
Hawai‘i was treated to its first professional
soccer game since 1977 when the D.C. United defeated the Los
Angeles Galaxy 1-0 in the innagural Aloha Soccer Cup. The Feb.
27 exhibition match featured the two major league Soccer teams
as they faced off at Aloha Stadium.

HPU takes three
from Sonoma State
The HPU baseball team improved to 8-5 on the
season after splitting a six-game series with California State
University-Sonoma Feb. 17-19 at Ke‘ehi Lagoon Field.
The visiting Seawolves had been ranked 20th in the nation amongst
NCAA II teams coming into the series.

Basketball drops
season's final games
HPU’s basketball team closed its season
losing to the UH-Hilo Vulcans 71-61 Feb. 26 at Mid-Pacific
Institute, and falling 62-54 to Grand Canyon University at
the Blaisdell Arena Feb. 28.

New faces spark softball season
opener
The Lady Sea Warrior softball team begins its
2005 season with many fresh new faces. HPU is currently 5-1
in the PacWest, after defeating Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i
in a doubleheader Feb. 21, with almost an entirely new lineup.
