HPU's Miss Hawai'i USA competes nationally

by Kalamalama staff

Miss Hawai‘i USA Jennifer Fairbank, a graduate student in communication at HPU, left for Baltimore, Md., March 25 in hopes of bringing home the highly coveted title of Miss USA.

The Miss USA pageant will be held at Baltimore¹s historic Hippodrome Theatre on April 11, and will air live from 9 to 11 p.m. (ET) on NBC.

For Fairbank, having the national pageant held in Baltimore is a plus. “My father is orginally from Baltimore,” Fairbank said, “so there will be a lot of Fairbanks at the pageant cheering me on-the “hometown” girl!” She added that Maryland has both a town and a street named Fairbank, both named for her ancestors.

Fairbank, 25, is half Korean and half Caucasian. A graduate of Punahou School and Loyola Marymount University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration, she is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Communication at HPU and working as a model and as a production assistant at Kinetic Productions.
