Chaplain's Corner
with Reverend Dale Burke

No matter religion, the world stands in awe of the humanitarian and spiritual contribution John Paul II made during his 27-year tenure as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He built bridges to other faiths, inspired a whole generation of youth on all the continents, cared for the poor, defied the threats of Soviet domination, held firm to his beliefs, and showed us how to live and how to die. He journeyed to 129 countries, and brought the presence of a living and loving God to every corner of the globe.

I see John Paul II as not just a servant of the church but as a servant of us all. He was an ardent advocate of peace with justice and constantly invited the first world to rise above the culture of materialism to taste the fruit of what an authentic spiritual life can offer.

We pray his successor will continue to bring our world together by breaking down barriers of culture, race, and religion. Thank you, John Paul II.
