by Camilla Andersson, staff writer

Her father was one of Hollywood’s greatest film composers, and Mancini honors her father and his composing partners throughout the performance.

Mancini tells great stories about her father and about growing up between the songs around some of the best musicians in the business, and this brings extra depth to our understandings of the songs themselves.

Overall, Mancini gave an intimate, yet strong performance. When she ended the show with the family-composed song “Music on the Way,” a letter written to her father after he had passed away, there wasn’t a dry eye in the concert hall. Mancini received a standing ovation from the audience, and she deserved it.
