HPU - making the world smaller

The United Samoan Organization at HPU always has a booth filled with interesting foods and artifacts from Samoa. The club regularly receives awards for its outstanding efforts to share its culture on Intercultural Day.

“I remember getting off the plane in Honolulu,” said Anika Niebuhr, an HPU student from Germany speaking of her feelings when her plane finally touched ground in Hawai‘i after the long flight across the Atlantic. “It was in the middle of the night, pitch black outside, and I was thinking ‘Wow! I’m as far away from home as I can be. I’m actually on the other side of the world.’ And then I realized I had no idea of what I was getting myself into.” [More]

Party to help send Miss Hawai'i U.S.A. to Miss U.S.A. pageant

HPU pre-med major Radasha Ho‘ohuli, crowned Miss Hawai‘i USA 2006 last May, is on her way next month to Baltimore, Md., to compete in the Miss U.S.A. pageant .

To help defray the cost of competition and travel to the East coast, Ho‘ohuli has organized a fundraiser on March 27, the first day of spring break,from 4 to 9 p.m. at Rumours at the Ala Moana Hotel.

“ There will be pupus, great entertainment, and much, much more,” Ho‘ohuli said. Everyone at HPU is welcome, so long as they’re over 21.

Council of Countries announces schedule for Intercultural Day
