Aloha from President Wright
with Chatt G. Wright

Mission: Military Campus Programs seeks to provide an effective and challenging education for all military service members, their families, and U.S. Government civilian personnel. We recognize their need for flexibility without sacrificing academic integrity in educational programs. We strive to maximize the potential for distance education as an alternative delivery mode to educate our students in an ever-changing global environment.

Vision: The vision of Military Campus Programs is to be a world leader in providing flexible and academically superior undergraduate education to the military community as its members serve at home and abroad.

Again this year, we honor our military through sponsorship of the Hawai‘i Military Appreciation Month Opening Ceremony on April 27 at the USS Battleship Missouri Memorial on Ford Island. HPU and affiliate Oceanic Institute staff and faculty, our International Vocal Ensemble, and several President’s Host members will join to kick off one month of remembrances and festivities on O‘ahu designed to recognize the invaluable contributions our service men and women, and their families, make to our state and in protecting our nation’s freedom

Since the 1970s, HPU has provided a flexible learning environment for this group of busy men and women. More than 2,500 of our students are military personnel, their spouses, or Department of Defense civilians who work full time or balance other responsibilities while seeking a quality education. Our military campuses—located at Marine Corps Base Hawai‘i, Kane‘ohe Bay, Camp H.M. Smith, Schofield Barracks, Tripler Army Medical Center, Pearl Harbor Naval Station, and Hickam Air Force Base—as well as our military campus online program all assist America’s military family reach their educational goals.

As military personnel on O‘ahu prepare to deploy to continue the fight against terrorism or respond on short notice to provide humanitarian assistance to our global citizens as a result of natural disasters, HPU has responded to meet their educational needs. We continue to expand our online course offerings to enable our service members to take classes wherever they are stationed on the globe and on a schedule that fits with the conflicting demands of their daily lives.

HPU recognizes the importance education contributes toward building and maintaining the best informed and most effective military in the world. We are proud to partner with Department of Defense off-duty voluntary education programs to help prepare the future leaders of our country.
