To participate, writers are asked to prepare three poems, with a 100-line limit each, with the writer’s name, address, phone number, e-mail, and names of the poems on a separate cover page (please no name on other pages), with a five-line biography. Send poems and cover sheet to the James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry, 1060 Bishop St., Ste. 7, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Participants must be a resident of Hawai‘i for at least a year. Submitted poems must not have been previously published.

Submissions must be postmarked by Dec. 15, 2006. Manuscripts will not be returned. For more information contact the award coordinator, Patrice Wilson, at pwilson@hpu.edu or 544-1108.
The winner will be announced in January 2007, and the award will be given at HPU’s annual Ko‘olau Writing Workshops on March 3, 2007.

The winner will be asked to share his or her poetry and writing experience with HPU students and faculty at a reading to be held during the spring semester.

The name of the recipient of the award will be engraved on a perpetual plaque to be displayed at HPU.
