Scholarship
support for military spouses
HPU’s Military Campus Programs recently
announced a Military Spouse Tuition Scholarship Program that
reduces already discounted military campus tuition by an
additional 25 percent. This applies to non-active duty spouses
of active duty military, Coast Guard, and members of the
Reserve/National Guard who are currently enrolled HPU students
or deployed in excess of 60 days. The scholarship applies
to tuition for any classes taken during military campus terms
between October 2006 and September 2007. [More]

Big Island major producer of geothermal
energy
The volcanic origins of our islands make Hawai‘i
an ideal place for the production of geothermal energy.
The word geothermal comes from the Greek word “geo” meaning
earth and “thermal” referring to heat, thus;
geothermal energy is derived from heat within the earth.
Because our islands are young in geological terms, the
resources necessary for geothermal production can often
