Women
Defining Success
by Michele Shackelford, staff writer
Hawai‘i has no dearth of women who have
inspired others. This issue begins a series on women of Hawai‘i
who have been an inspiration and mentors to other women around
them. They are not always the most well-known women, but they
all, genuinely, have affected someone else’s life.
We often overlook society’s everyday heroes, and this
series is dedicated to them. These women have given themselves
to the community and others. An inspirational woman can be
anyone who has touched someone else’s life in a special
way. They possess qualities that future generations should
strive to have. They are examples to women of all ages.
For more information on this series or if you have a recommendation,
