Captain Christian Nielson summed up their season saying, “We wanted to be the best team in Hawai‘i, and we accomplished our goal.”

HPU finished the season with an overall record of 8-7-2, a conference record of 3-5-2, and an island record of 5-1-2. HPU accomplished its overall goal of the season by being the dominant team among the three other Hawai‘i schools.

The leading scorers of the season were Aki Adachi with seven goals, Christian Clemente with six goals, and Mike King with four goals.

“We had some ups and downs this season, but we won the games we should have, and we gained some valuable experience,” said Head Coach Frank Doyle. “We hope to continue building so we can become a dominant team in our conference.”

Within the next few seasons, HPU hopes to expand its roster to make a bigger impression on the PacWest Conference.

The entire HPU soccer team said they want to extend their gratitude to the Spirit Club and all of their other fans for all the support throughout the season.

“ Without the Spirit Club we would not have been as successful this season, we appreciate all their support,” said center midfielder Gabe Sugar. “We look forward to putting on a better show next season.”
