At the SKAL tournament, the students acted as judges for holes-in-one and determined the winners for the ‘closest to the pin’ contests. Proceeds from the tournament help fund scholarships for island college students.

The CMAA Golf Tournament is also an annual fundraising event where representatives from various areas of the hospitality industry get together to raise money for scholarships granted to TIM students. The CMAA grants $500 scholarships to multiple recipients every semester, and HPU students are frequently awardees.

SKAL is an international organization that brings together all branches of the travel industry. Comprising industry managers and executives, SKAL (which gets it’s name from a Scandinavian toast) was founded in Paris in 1932 by travel trade managers. Today SKAL has more than 25,000 members in more than 500 clubs throughout 80 countries.

SKAL Hawai‘i is one of the largest clubs in the United States, with more than 100 members representing hotels, airlines, car rental companies, and other organizations.
